We spent time exploring Great Harbour Cay with our friend’s on SV Serenity. Fun activities include visiting the cave, mangrove ride and lots of beachcombing.
One night, Joe, Ethan and I were having dinner with our friend’s Jay and Karen Campbell boat, M/Y Largo. We hear some strange noises, so Jay disappears. Turns out the elderly kitty from SV Serenity went swimming and needed to be rescued. Jay literally saved the day giving mouth to snout to this poor cat.
We enjoy GHC and all our friend’s here, but knew we wanted to move on. Our goal for this season was to deliver some wine to friend’s in the Dominican Republic (DR) and possibly spend hurricane season in Grenada or the DR. Schedules are always fluid to cruisers.
Leaving GHC, we headed north around the two cruise ship islands in the Northern Berry group of islands. We stopped for a few days to visit Soldier and Hoffman Cays.
You can see why we love this deserted anchorage. The water is gin clear turquoise and teeming with sea life. Nearby, on Hoffman Cay, I seem to find lots of shells, sea beans, and sea glass, too.
After a couple of days, the plan is to motorsail to Eleuthera and provision at Spanish Wells. We also want to visit our friend, Hans, who is rebuilding a historic resort in Governors Harbour.
I leave you with a sunrise view of the Soldier Cay anchorage.
